A 12.5X zoom lens with a range from 24mm wide angle to 300mm telephoto lets you capture the scenes you want in a variety of dynamic compositions. The 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor is especially effective in nightscape or backlit shooting, while the high-performance DUAL IS image stabilization ensures stable, rock-solid telephoto imaging free from camera shake.
Easy operation with touchscreen panel
The 3.0-inch touchscreen monitor provides intuitive fingertip control. The touchscreen panel also lets you control the Live Guide function, which enables you to adjust the "brightness", "hue" and "vividness" while observing the result on the monitor screen.

In the iAUTO mode, the "brightness", "hue" and "vividness" can be easily fine-tuned by touching the guide bar while observing the image.
Touch shutter
Touching the image of the desired subject causes the camera to focus on it and release the shutter automatically.
Face selection/auto tracking
Touching the image of the desired subject makes it possible to select the subject to be focused on or lock on the subject for automatic tracking.

Taking advantage of full HD movie recording has never been easier thanks to the Multi-motion movie image stabilization that compensates for even the slightest camera shake - even that produced by breathing or walking. You can start recording with a simple press of the MOVIE button, so you will never miss a chance to capture an exciting scene.
