Enhanced Live View | Versatile Functions

Newly added functions make it easier than ever to capture each moment just as you experience it.

Auto Focus Live View

Now featuring an advanced new auto focus system, the E-420's Live View function is easier than ever to use and enables you to take photographs while you're looking at the LCD monitor. The high-speed Imager AF*1 allows you to focus by half-pressing the shutter button and shoot pictures just like you would with a compact camera.

Face Detection & Shadow Adjustment Technology *2

When you're using Live View, the Face Detection and Shadow Adjustment Technology automatically detects up to 8 faces at a time, adjusting focus appropriately and compensating for over-exposed and under-exposed areas. This makes it possible to capture both faces and background with well-balanced brightness.
Faces can also be detected during playback, making it easy to enlarge them to check details.

HyperCrystal II LCD Monitor

The E-420 features an improved 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD monitor with high-definition 230,000-dots (approx.) resolution. With improved contrast ratio, enhanced colour reproduction capability, and wide viewing angles of 176 degrees, images on screen are clear and easy to see. Whether shooting from ground level or over the head, it's easy and hassle-free with Live View.

Precise Focusing

When taking pictures, you can magnify the image on the display up to 10 times normal size, enabling precise focusing. Autofocusing after magnifying the image is also possible.

Perfect Shot Preview

The newly added Perfect Shot Preview function allows simultaneous visual comparison of the effects of up to 4 different exposure and white balance settings. You can set the adjustments simply by selecting one of the images on the monitor.
