Firmware version 2.0 supports bird
detection AF and RAW video data output

The latest firmware version 2.0 will be released in December 2020 to further improve the usability of the OM-D E-M1X. AF, video shooting and other functions will be enhanced.

Bird detection AF

Bird detection AF has been added to Intelligent Subject Detection AF, which was developed using AI technology
(deep learning technology).
The camera automatically prioritizes detection and continues focusing on a bird's eye
so the photographer can concentrate on framing.

  • Only enabled for C-AF+TR
  • Detection may not be possible depending on the subject or may incorrectly detect the subject.

Automatically detects and tracks the bird's eye, head, and body

This feature prioritizes focus on the bird's eye. Even when the camera fails to detect the bird's eye, it detects the head or body for tracking.

  • Eye detection
  • Head detection
  • Body detection

Powerful hand-held shooting support in the field

Birds are accurately detected in the field even in the presence of obstacles such as plants and trees, bringing a greater level of freedom to framing. This feature delivers powerful support for low angles and sudden changes in direction that are only possible with nimble hand-held shooting.

Pro Capture supported

This feature can be used with Pro Capture, which helps prevent missed shots. This combination continually focuses on moments
such as when a bird is hunting or taking flight so the photographer can concentrate and wait for a photo opportunity.

Detection is possible across the entire AF area even when using
a super telephoto lens

Bird detection is possible across the entire AF coverage area even when using M.Zuiko Digital lenses, including super telephoto lenses. Birds can be detected even at the periphery of the screen, offering a greater level of freedom over framing.

RAW video data output

RAW video output to external equipment is now supported, enabling advanced post-production tasks for video production pros.

  • Compatible external device: ATOMOS NINJA V HDR monitor recorder

12 bit 4K 30P/Cinema 4K 24P output support

RAW video data can be output in 12 bit 4K 30P, 25P and 24P/Cinema 4K 24P. It is recorded in Apple ProRes RAW format on the supported external output device. The compact, lightweight E-M1X system with powerful image stabilisation can be used for nimble hand-held RAW video shooting without a gimbal even with external equipment attached.

Resolution Frame rate Aspect ratio HDMI output
