This zoom lens, starting at 16mm[1] equivalent, delivers maximum 3.1x high-magnification zoom performance. Because it extends to 50mm equivalent[1] at the telephoto end, it offers versatile angle of view options from the ultra-wide-angle range to the standard range, making it useful in a wide variety of scenes such as landscapes, snapshots, portraits, etc.

Retracting mechanism

This is the first model in the M.Zuiko PRO series to use a retracting mechanism. The new mechanism, which allows the lens to be retracted simply by turning the zoom ring, enables smooth shooting.

The 16 lens 10 group configuration including special lenses such as Super ED, ED, and EDA lenses, thoroughly eliminates all kinds of aberrations including chromatic aberration. Enjoy high resolution across the entire zoom range. Furthermore, incorporating a large DSA lens significantly reduces sagittal comatic aberration. This design delivers high point image reproduction from the center to the edges of the image even at the widest aperture setting.

Complete measures to deal with ghost and flare

Despite being a 16mm equivalent ultra-wide-angle lens, the optical design and coating are optimized to thoroughly suppress ghosts and flaring during backlit shooting.

Close-up shooting performance

This lens delivers a maximum shooting magnification of 0.42x1 that allows you to get up close with subjects for intense shots that rival a half-macro lens. The closest focusing distance is 0.23 meters across the entire zoom range, offering greater freedom over artistic shots with variations in subject size and perspective in close-up shooting.

Dustproof, splashproof, and -10℃ freezeproof

This model features the superb dustproof and splashproof performance of IP53 equivalent, and is freezeproof to -10℃. Pairing this lens with a dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof camera body makes it possible to continue shooting in punishing environments such as rain and snow with peace of mind.

Fluorine coating on the front most lens

Fluorine coating is used on the front most lens. Even if the front most lens gets dirty, it can be quickly cleaned with a blower or cloth.

Designed for a superior hold

3. The grip is easy to hold because of the extra space.

A zoom ring on the front of the lens allows for more space between the lens and grip. The camera and lens are easy to hold even when the lens is paired with a camera that has a large grip, such as the OM-D E-M1 Mark III, allowing for comfortable operations.

L-Fn button

The AF stops functioning while the button is pressed. You may be able to assign other functions depending on your camera.
The L-Fn (lens function) button is placed in a location that is easy for the left thumb to reach for easy controls while holding the lens.

MF clutch

This model is equipped with the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism, which makes instant switching to manual focus possible by pulling the focusing ring toward you.
This mechanism is convenient for quickly activating the shutter for snapshots, etc.
